That's funny,because with the recent Noreaster (Blizzard 05!) that gave us 20", I was using plates, and had no 'delay' issues clipping in and getting the ol' Tanker 182 up to floatin' speed! Of course, I cheat some, as my runaway leash is on the front toeclip (quicker into liftlines), and the rear toe has an old skipole strap t-nutted in to help the 'old man' grab the latch without pinching a spinal nerve. One bonus though for softboot bindings is 'the touch' when in fluffy stuff. It's nice to feel the difference between 3 hr. old windpack and virgin freshies. In my hardboots,it's kinda like.. Nope, wont use That comparison... ;-D
