Ok, I ride hard boots, but I want to use hard boots and a race board to race Boarder cross. Now, I have a few questions. Can I use a Race board? I ride a Donek 162 Custom racing board. Can I use this or do I need a different board? Also, I ride at Stratton MT, and would like to know how to find BX races in my area. Also, who usually has a course setup?

In USASA, square tail boards are prohibited. they don't have to be freestyle boards, however, and many companies make boards which are BX Specific and suitable for riding with plates.

as for events, there are some independent events, but you best bet is to hook up with USASA (www.USASA.org) and ride in either the southern vermont series, or the central vt series. Mass may also make sense for you. If you are looking forcoaching, there are some great programs in VT, I also run one down in the berkshires at Bousquet.

Good luck -

-Noah

Thanks Noah, are you familiar with the Donek Axis? A rounded tail carve/freeride board? Would this do?

the axis would be an excellent board for BX in plates. one thing to keep in mind is that different courses are better and worse suited for plates...look at some of the big boys who will switch it up based on the course...
